About the station

Anshun is the base for Huangguoshu waterfall, the largest waterfall in Asia by width and the centrepiece of a scenic area that includes several smaller cascades and caves.

The station handles conventional trains, while Anshun West serves the high-speed line. The two are different buildings.

The surrounding region is also the heartland of the Buyi and Miao minority groups, with stone-built villages scattered through the karst landscape.

Getting to and from Anshun

Buses connect the station to the city and to the Huangguoshu direction. Many travellers use Anshun as a base and visit the falls as a day trip.

The waterfall scenic area is large, with internal buses between the sections. One day is realistic, two is comfortable.

What catches travellers out here

  • The waterfall is at its best in the rainy season, roughly May to October, and can be thin in winter.
  • Anshun and Anshun West are different stations serving different lines.

Before you travel

Tickets are issued against your passport and there is no paper ticket to collect for most domestic services. Read the booking guide if this is your first Chinese train, or the seat class guide if you are choosing between a hard sleeper and a soft sleeper. For the station itself, the general station guide explains how gates and boarding work at any Chinese station.

Station details are compiled from published railway information and are checked periodically. Facilities, station layouts and access arrangements can change — confirm anything critical locally before you travel.
