About the station

Chengdu East is the main high-speed hub and the station most visitors actually use. G and D trains to Chongqing, Xi’an, Guiyang, Kunming and the eastern network all depart from here.

It is a very large modern station with two levels of concourse and clear bilingual signage. The scale is the main practical challenge: the walk from the metro to a distant platform can take fifteen minutes.

If you are heading to Leshan, Emei Shan or the Chengdu–Chongqing corridor, this is almost certainly your station.

Getting to and from Chengdu

Metro Line 2 and Line 7 serve the station. Line 7 is the ring line and connects to Chengdu station and Chengdu South, which makes inter-station transfers straightforward.

Allow more time than you think. The station is big and the security queue can be long at peak hours.

What catches travellers out here

  • Do not book to "Chengdu" assuming you will end up here. Check the Chinese name: 成都东 is this station, 成都 is the old one.
  • There are multiple waiting areas on different levels. Check the departure board for your specific waiting zone rather than joining the first queue you see.
