About the station

Liupanshui is a highland city in western Guizhou at around 1,800 m, which makes it one of the coolest places in southern China in summer — locals call it the cool capital for that reason.

The station is a junction on the Guiyang–Kunming line, with services continuing toward Baise and the Guangxi border.

It is not a major tourist destination, but it is a genuine plateau city with an unusually pleasant summer climate and a working railway junction atmosphere.

Getting to and from Liupanshui

The station connects to the city centre by bus and taxi. The city is spread across several districts and they are not all close together.

Onward services run east toward Guiyang and Anshun and west toward Kunming.

What catches travellers out here

  • The city districts are spread out and named separately. Know which district your accommodation is in before you arrive.
  • The altitude keeps it cool, but the sun is strong and the temperature drops sharply after dark.

Before you travel

Tickets are issued against your passport and there is no paper ticket to collect for most domestic services. Read the booking guide if this is your first Chinese train, or the seat class guide if you are choosing between a hard sleeper and a soft sleeper. For the station itself, the general station guide explains how gates and boarding work at any Chinese station.

Station details are compiled from published railway information and are checked periodically. Facilities, station layouts and access arrangements can change — confirm anything critical locally before you travel.
